The Gringo Guide to México – Its History, People, and Culture – Vo Il. I is a collection of twenty-eight articles previously published in my semimonthly column, The Page Turner, which appeared in the English language online newspaper, The Mazatlan Messenger. Those articles that were dated by subsequent events were updated at the time of the book’s publication.
Each of the twenty-eight articles run from 1,000 to 1,500 words. So, it is easy to read a couple of chapters and return later without having to recall where you ended reading so as not to lose any continuity. Since Vol. I is also a collection of twenty-eight articles, it does not matter which volume a person reads first.
The articles in Vol. II range from Hernán Cortés – The Conqueror of México to México and the Catholic Church. There also light hearted articles, such as México City’s Organ Grinders and Tequila vs. Mezcal.
